 St.
Joseph’s Health and Retirement Center is nestled in the beautiful
Ojai Valley ninety-eight miles north of Los Angeles and thirty-five
miles south of Santa Barbara. The serene and peaceful accommodations
are surrounded by thirty-five acres of orange groves and the
well-groomed gardens add to the beauty and contemplative nature
of this facility. Spirituality and aging become one in this
atmosphere.
 The
Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God live on the premises
and integrates its spirit of hospitality into the daily life
of the center. A beautiful chapel accommodates the spiritual
needs of any faith. All are welcome to participate in all
spiritual and pastoral services. There is a resident chaplain.
You are invited to visit St. Joseph’s park-like setting of lush gardens,
sprawling oaks and surrounding orange groves. These aesthetics enable our
resident and guests to live in tranquility.
 St.
Joseph’s is a non-profit corporation sponsored by the Brothers
of St. John of God. It offers skilled nursing and independent
living facilities on the premises. The skilled nursing facility
is fully licensed by the State of California and certified
by both the Medicare and Medi-Cal programs.
The Skilled Nursing Facility provides total assistance or
care on a permanent basis. It is staffed twenty-four hours
by licensed and certified nurses. Under the direction of an
exceptionally qualified and committed Director of Nursing,
all professional aspects or resident care are carried out
in a holistic manner meeting the social, psychological and
spiritual needs of the residents.
 A
professionally trained, totally dedicated activities director
keeps each resident involved in various activities.
The maintenance and grounds departments continually ensure the efficiency of the
physical plant and the manicured appearance of the grounds.
The independent living unit is for residents who can care
for themselves. Here we offer the following services: Housekeeping;
three excellent meals daily shopping trips; community and
cultural events; chapel services; volunteer programs; birthday
celebrations; tennis courts; beauty parlor and a barber shop.
St. Joseph’s Foundation sponsors many annual events, e.g., the barbecue and
Cioppino dinner.
