Dear Brothers, Sisters and Friends.

We are reaching the end of Lent and preparing to live through the Holy Week 2001, and the Easter Triduum, with the celebration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Easter mystery lies at the very heart of out faith. the Son of god was made man in Jesus of Nazareth to bring us salvation, to open up our lives to the Resurrection. And this he did by announcing the Good News, and above all by generously surrendering His life, in obedience to the will of the Father. and , as He had announced, on the third day HE ROSE AGAIN!

Our spiritual life must receive us a very powerful experience of the Easter Triduum, through meditation and prayer, and by participating in the Liturgy celebrating the Mystery of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ.

The Easter Mystery of Christ brings light and salvation to the whole history - a history through which we are living 2000 years later. A history which is full of suffering (passion), sickness, marginalization, injustice and poverty....; and death, war, terrorism, abortion, euthanasia.... Fortunately, it is also full of Resurrection in the many values and achievements of our society and our Church.

As witness of Christ we are called to share in it too. The new celebration in this year 2001 must help us to bear witness to our faith, with even greater strength than before, as a struggle for the liberation of all, which must lead us all to share in the Resurrection of Christ
